"If you rewatch beggining of Infinity War, Thanos says so himself during his monologue : "I know what it’s like to loose. It turns your legs to jelly" that’s why he sits when he sees he lost and it’s only a matter of seconds before he vanishes away"
Someone nameless years ago pointed out how his IW self won, he faced the sun at the end of the movie and his younger less realized self, more arrogant self, when he lost he sat with his back to the sun.
I would only add that in IW, he specifically faced the rising sun, the light shone on his victory he earned. A victory he won without an army.
Here, the sun fell & descended on his defeat.
The sun rose and fell, this younger Thanos didn't sacrifice anything to win, so he didnt deserve to win.
