I only watched HxH 99 & 2011 just last year for the first time after 10 yrs of My Tears Academia.

Deku ain't got nothing on this kid Gon, the depth gap is beyond insane.

Gon is a force, Togashi was not shy of making Gon a source of hope & horror if necessary. Multi-faceted character.

Anime Overview: Hunter X Hunter

1999 HxH has more filler but better characterization. 2011 is more complete, better pacing but the writing isn't the best. Cause the sheer amount of guff we suffer through just to get Meruem vs Netero was just beyond torture, like holy crap. And the fight itself while epic compared to the HxH fight, the choreography was dry as hell.

And then when King gets that buff, we don't even get to see him test it on a rival--- like Covenant Gon for example?

Heavens Arena arc is my personal fav, it's just Gon & Killua in a new setting doing their thing on their own, reminded me of an Earthbound quest. And most importantly we get Nen introduction aka the true final exam, which I enjoyed thoroughly. I don't like tournament arcs and in-depth power systems but both i enjoyed in this specific arc. And it didn't overstay it's welcome, they went there for a reason, they discovered something new, completed their goal & then some, then left. Simple.

overall, good points, that election arc was definitely a step down, but while bored I appreciated the detox after Chimera Ant arc's exhaustive turns. And yes, Killua's brother was way too broken, wasn't a fan of that wish crap. It seems the Zoldyck's matriarch is so starved for daughters she dresses up the younger boys like girls lol.

Hunter x Hunter 2011 EP35 (recommended show)

Where the 2011 shines over the 90s version in this scene is the absence of music to hone in on the intensity when this fight began, pulling you in. VERY wise direction. #HunterXHunter2011 (recommended show)
