And as much as I liked Perry's layer because her voice just has that sound; I found it wasn't the song that hooked me, overtime that whiney defiant overtone in the lyrics became more unattractive as i got older (Cyndi Lauper vibes just way more on the nose); for 'I kissed a girl' tho, ultimately the lyrics still kick but I outgrew them. It was always the music and that guitar riffing that was the staple, ngl. It's sick how funky it is.
