goated, the manhood messaging is more nuanced here than ppl give it credit for. It's both listening, compassion, stepping up and knowing when to kick some ass when talking don't work or don't even risk your well being trying to talk with people who don't deserve grace. Cause when shit hit the fan, it ain't the academics who tear masculinity apart in their little articles & peer studies, they're not the ones that step up when people need protecting, when things need to be built. Duncan is spitting straight facts there. Adam is right too about compassion, they're both right. Both aspects are valid parts of the spectrum of manhood. Duncan saying that one thing added a crucial level of nuance that most media completely miss when it comes to this theme. Adam is the modern talkingpoint, his father wishing he'd let Adam be himself is also a crucial element not to lean too far into the hard style of masculinity, also valid. But Duncan is why the message works, the reminder that a coddled civilization that actually wants a future, shouldn't forget why it survived this long. And even He-Man had to concede that the time for talking after a certain point is over with Skeletor. a dash of modern revisionism, & a dash of old school practicality. A good mix.
