Women can enjoy comic book movies, but the heavy emphasis on male characters (here me out, just a theory) juuuust might be indicative of the fact that comic books are male centric to begin with, hence why it’s not women we have to thank for Comics getting this far, it’s the boys turned men that made the franchises what they are- because it’s male centric.

never mind if they have anything in common with the character as people, never mind if they even like the character’s story or personality but we’re changing the world because little Julie saw a movie with a 50:50 female /male character ratio----

Where’s the representation there? There was few to any black people in that movie, didn’t send me into an ethnic identity crisis. I didn’t grow up wanting to bleach my skin because a movie I watched so many times it drove my guardian crazy didn’t have any black representation and that made me hate myself, and now I push representation on my little ones because the cultural oppression in a movie made me feel left out when the fucking movie wasn’t about me or racial politics .
This is how people make themselves miserable and then want to gaslight the other 90% that they adopt the 10%’s self inflicted torture; because the social justice saints saw a problem where there was none and that means we should all be upset with them. That’s not how that works.
This shit becomes a problem when you make it a problem, this is the issue with representation, it comes from good intentions because:

With all the female characters that exist in the mcu, for the average woman, how many in your top 5 favorites would be majority women anyway?
And for what reason beyond tribalism, because some women still seem to think they’re a different species or something. And have to side woman anything or else you betray an unspoken sisterhood oath or some bullshit.
No one’s going to look at The PowerpuffGIRLS & complain that there’s not enough male protagonist representation in a show called The+Powerpuff+Girls
If they made an A-Force movie, that’s going to be female dominated, because those members are female. Or every movie starring a woman where the majority of the villains & dead baddieson average are men.
Or romantasy novels for women where the men only exist to be pieces of meat, zero agency, they exist to worship the heroine..Shoujo anime.
So women get to have their dominated spaces but when it’s too many men in a male centric genre, time to pull out the “bitch & moan” special attack card and deadass gaslight yourself into thinking there’s a problem solely by ratio.
Imagine watching Good Times and the first thing that comes to mind is “Sure we see white people here and there but where’s the Asians & Middle eastern representation?!”
Women are underrepresented as sewage technicians & Elevator techs in society, good paying fields, but nobody cares. Because “STEM” is a shiny title with political relevance, so really representation only matters when Massa says it matters.
So “representation” is a crock of shit ploy to further put people in boxes, with good intentions ofc because think of the children, you monsters.
