Skimming through Superman '25 & the first thing that stood out is how tf are humans keeping up with Supes' combat speed on key inputs. No quantum computers etc.

They're not cyborgs, just humans playing a video game lol. Reminded me of that Sovereign chase in GOTG2.

rich text editor image

if they wrote it that they used Brainiac/ Brother eyes processing speed as a medium to equalize the perception of time for the puppeteers, so that the combat speed is neutralized, fine.

Aside from the speed gripe, If Supes was holding back to appeal to the clone himself (which surprisingly wasn't exploited more, not even to explore his 'everyone/everything is beautiful' theme; he saves a squirrel, but doesn't think to fight to appeal to/save a literal slave? Oops?) but if he did, that would be why he allowed the beating-that's one thing.

But after he needed doggo to save him---

where tf was all of this when clone was washing him!? lmfao

The "avatar" could only be as fast as their command relay transmissions, and that's AFTER Lex tells them what to do which is seconds spent. So their inputs keeping up at all was funky.

rich text editor image

Lex yelling "1A"? command was hilarious, thats what gave away the realtime issue. So to be fair, even a cyborg (hax reflex or even if the nanomachines injected into someones brain) is not enough to keep up with nerf Superman via key inputs to remote control an organic drone. Like Snyder, if they weren't playing on it so seriously at times, i would've wrote it off as a comic-ism like Donner & Lesters style.

picture it: a white belt who started yesterday knows all the moves of experienced UFC fighter who's been fighting for 16 years. Now consider how pointless it is to prepare 2500 moves against someone with superspeed lmfao.

Still love that "1A!" popoff tho😂ONE A! ONE A! 1NE A!!!!

Otherwise the hand to hand action for the most part looks ok, good camera work even if the cgi is a bit whiff at times, Gunn was smart to carry over his GOTG vol.3 action chops.

Man Of Steel - Superman Vs General Zod Last Fight **Reaction Mashup** (the issue with the neck snap isn't Zods death)

Man Of Steel - Superman Vs General Zod Last Fight Reaction Mashup

Kent having to balance saving people & fighting Zod like in Superman 2 and Death of Superman 2018 (excellent Superman fight btw, go watch that movie), that would've been leagues better leading up to him killing Zod. It's not the execution of Zod, It's just the build up to it that was so sloppy. All those buildings fell, all those people,  & only now this one family matters?

I've been in fights, when you're locked in  as an amateur, you don't pay attention as much to your environment, you get tunnel vision, so i get it, but this guy has super senses and common sense, all those buildings & not once is he looking around cognizant of whats happening? And there plenty of times the fight stopped after he got punched, no awareness, nothing.

(The irony of zod's claim of training on a farm is Clark actually did not train, he practiced to fly, and Jor-El appointed him to test his limits but part of the issue with this "Superman" is he's actually unqualified emotionally and literally, cause Jor-El did a horrible job prepping him, 78 Jor-El basically made Clark into a NEET shut-in before he even got the suit, that training was so extensive it required a timeskip, Clark had to earn the suit. Same with Smallville.)

*Cavill's era was wasted on Snyder & Goyer, absolutely wasted and squandered.* Instead of people using him saving that soldier that fell out the copter as an excuse like "See? see? He saves people in a fight!", that same act should've been extended here.

Not him saving everyone successfully, but him saving some & failing others mid-fight (because he's still green & there's but so much he can do at this stage of his career) and then after that failure, after he sees and absorbs that loss then he does what needs to be done with heavy heart. But we the audience have to see him seeing this & getting that impact DURING the crisis, not at the end with some frigging scream.
Thats what Invincible got right, or like Superman in canon (Superman for Tomorrow when he couldn't stop an execution of civilians on foreign soil or he couldn't stop a foreign ethnic dispute, excellent story btw, recommended). That's why this doesn't work and his comic Doomsday fight does, both Death of Superman animated movies too, both good fights, WAAAAY better than this.

Zack prioritized an uncut DragonBallZ fight with a post-nut regret scream over a Superman accurate narrative with a fight attached to it.  (And the fight isn't really that good honestly, Zimaut Animation could easily direct a better fight with just Flash animation software, go check their channel out btw, recommended) Like Superman vs Doomsday 2018, Supes didn't care if Doomsday was a living being or not, in fact, he didn't even check. In the end, he wanted him put down because if it wasn't done, Lois would die, and Earth would be donezo next, period. And Supes was a hair's breadth from passing out as well.

It's not about him killing Zod (in Superman ii he killed Zod out of spite with a smile, tho that was a different context given it was basically like a kiddy cartoon with some emotional elements but it was still unnecessary on Supermans part) but here it's all about the execution because unlike Superman 2, this movie takes itself very very very seriously, which raises the bar for a stunt like this.

The execution of all this was just as messy as Zacks Batman Bathroom scene idea.
I get what he was going for, but like Horikoshi & Bayformers, Zack has the vision to make something look cool, but how these cats get the story to that fixed point just ends up a train wreck.

(Disclaimer: the entire context of that gif of Superman taking Doomsday upside from that little girl ended with Supes suplexing Doomsday back down to kill him but for some reason he thought it was a brilliant idea to do that back in METROPOLIS/ a city **which is a major strike against that fight**, but him taking the opponent up in the sky at all instead of just sitting there acting like he forgot how to fly which is what Man of Steel-- did was my point in showing that excerpt. Because I've been saying for years "If he has Zod in a lock, ie. physical control, why didn't he just fly up?!????")

Thoughts on James Gunn's Superman Trailer...SUPER MEH (It smells like Age of Ultron all over again, franchise setup over story)

Thoughts on James Gunn's Superman Trailer...SUPER MEH

(It smells like Age of Ultron  all over again, franchise setup over story)

I'm done with live action Superman/ or anything Superhero, not even going to front. It’s going to take some serious heavy lifting for me to go:

Everything this guy Shawn voiced I pretty much agree with.

Even down to The Man of Steel Byrne run (which tells me Shawn is definitely a comics man), to Gunn likely just using this movie as another Batman v Superman: DAWN of Future Movies or The Avengers: Age of Future Movies

It's the same symptoms, these cinematic universes are obsolete now, they're dated, very VERY overrated. Just a business model to pump out content for the sake of it.

Everything James Gunn is going to attempt (good or halfway decent) is going to be a bad attempt at Timm's DCAU, I'm calling it now just how I tapped out of the MCU 2019 after watching Endgame 3 three times in a week and (despite my enjoying the Endgame theater experiences & I got something different each time) I could clearly & THOROUGHLY smell it's inferiority to Infinity War & Avengers 2012 (& I don't even like that movie) and prioritized fanservice over story.

This movie smelling like something funky in a similar vein to BvS & AOU, but we'll see. Theater's ain't getting my money but I'll eventually spot check it here and there after everyone calms the fuck down & the hype fizzles out and THEN we’ll see who the fans are and what the product is actually worth.

Just like I did with that laughably bad (or a generous: Mediocre Tumblr Fanfic) My Adventures with Lois-Chan Season 1 and somehow a Season 2, a show everyone forgot about yet again after the second season overstayed it’s welcome and kindly fucked off. Finally.

Agreed for the most part here on the video, and yes, Superman Returns suit was pretty solid (Tho I wanted the chest shield a bit bigger, it was a beautiful fusion of modern & classic)

Very rarely can you have this much on your plate coming out the gate and sell a good execution. Let’s not forget that BvS was only the SECOND Snyderverse movie.

Setup & Story work better when it’s a smaller ecosystem, a smaller playing field, it’s less overstimulation for the audience, the writers aren’t stretching the script thin, Cramming  50 elements into .a 10 Capacity box and it’s not overcompensating because at the end of the day, they’ll likely just sell a 2 hour trailer for future movies aka Age of Ultron and Dawn of Justice.

Focus. Is the word. Coherence and focus. Very rarely can you prioritize setup of a UNIVERSE, the movie is about one guy and still get a coherent story.

That’s why The Batman worked in 2022, that’s why Ironman 2008 is STILL the best Ironman movie and that’s why Spider-Man worked in 2002, and nobody gives a shit about Homecoming despite all it had that the Raimi’s film didn’t.

Focus. (We’ll see what Gunn & Co. can do, we’ll see if they can write a competent Superman story or yet another Guardians of the Galaxy Lite with a Superman in it)

Superman Classic (This animation is sitting at 600k after 13 years, unacceptable)

Fleischer is truly sobbing tears of joy in his grave. You captured his cartoons authentic visuals+anime+ that little reprieve in between with Supes giving the child his toy robot; Just platinum Superman moment, Superman in his natural habitat.

This screams Mechanical Episode from the 40s cartoon, and you sealed the deal with it being an army instead if one robot. Excellent callback.

Not to make it about me, but around 13 years is about as long as I been on the Tube and JUST now have I seen this & it's only at 669k as of the 26th of September 2024. Why.

Youtube is truly a sham & shell of it's intended purpose, where the most disgusting crap gets 1Mil in days, weeks but this borderline classic production that all Superman/animation fans should know exist had to fight 13 years just for 600k.

The neglect is astronomical. You deserve every view you get m8.

YouTube betrayed it's purpose, but lucky for the audience, the authentic creators did not.

Seeing Red or Giants Do Die (Superman Limitbreaker) *video*

*[CAUTION]: Cringe Levels beyond safe parameters Issued by the CDC*

#supermanlimitbreaker #giant #humbled #superman #dccomics #alternateuniverse #lessermook

Try & picture it. Mile-High x2, a giantess npc if you will (*cringing 300%), yer size matches your ego now.

Amoral psychopath. Think you're invincible because of your size (until you inevitably starve to death, or suffocate from brain damage from lack of proper oxygen, & or die of dehydration anyway specifically because of your size... Oops?)

Then after you lay waste to millions for no apparent reason, out of fucking nowhere, like a genuine force of nature that makes your gigantism look like the handicap it is-

Dude comes along, mops the floor with you, minimum effort, severing your nerve endings at the speed of goddamn light by just flying through your skin, causing severe migraines by heat visioning various points of your brain organ, punches your jaw into splinters with a single love-tap.

The ground around you is turning into a landscape of hell every time he gets near you, sonic booms are going off in every direction like firecrackers, your ears are ringing.

And because of your size, you CAN NOT see him, it's like thin air is kicking your ass. Just a tiny red blur unraveling your body's motor functions like he's taking apart a Lego.

Your friend is convulsing on the floor with 4th degree burns, and there's nothing you can do about it. Powerless to help her let alone yourself.

After all that, are you still thinking you're some kind of bullshit goddess? Or shitting mountain sized bricks because you just got the reality check of the CENTURY?

And now you're going the way of Goliath and every Giant after him that didn't know their place.

You are big enough to cause sonic booms by moving your fingers through the air but is getting absolutely dominated in every conceivable way by a middle class News Reporter, who's about to reluctantly yet painstakingly erase you from humanity's list of immediate inconveniences.

Sad part is: If the girl wasn't already unconscious due to every bone in her body being broken, she'd wish she instead lived in a universe where she wasn't a psychopathic idiot who thought genocide was a fucking game- Perhaps another universe where she is sane, alive & the most of her troubles in life was getting a boy to confess his feelings to her, a kinder world, maybe somewhere out there that is her life.

-Multiverse is an ugly beast. Hellish fever dream.-Consequences.

Superman: The Animated Series (Recommended)

I roasted this back in the day because of how tame his power level was, but this is a young Superman story done right.

This show tackles cool characters & concepts ranging from Mxy to Darkseid to the Legion of Superheroes.

And featuring a Kara (NOT Bore-El) surprisingly that doesn't piss me off with her very existence. Imagine my surprise to find out she's NOT miraculously Superman's Cousin who ALSO just happened to survive the explosion because Jor-EL just HAPPENED to have a brother who JUST HAPPENED to be a Scientist who HAPPENED to have exact same idea to Kara but for some reason not himself or his wife.

Fan-fic tier garbage. GARBAGE.

But Kara In-Ze decent, she's a good kid.

In fact, I wish Kara In-Ze was in that Superman Returns deleted scene when he went back to Krypton, and he finds her on Argo or something. Some of kind of payoff for that 5 years he was gone

Back to the show. Clark is a sassy, witty chad.

He's not some Him-bro purse puppy like someone else I know in recent memory I wish I could carve out of my skull. He's a vanilla dork big-brother (like Welling's take) who's underwhelming enough to sell the role but not overdoing it to point it's cartoonish & annoying.

He's good at his job, both of them. And the more times he puts on the cape, the more the universe expands, the guy just attracts trouble and all tryna do is the right thing.

I thought initially him not being overtly geeky would've defeated the illusion but in fact he's still so bland as a person compared to Superman he doesn't have to go out of his way to try not be suspicious, which now that i'm thinking about it would make him more suspicious.

And the sass carries over to Superman, this character (from here to JLU) cops attitude A LOT, it's funny see. A very human Superman with a wide range of emotions as he's in this Superhero career, yet stoic and collected and I love it.

Stubborn as an Ox at times, especially as he gets older & develops more of an ego. He's a leader, but not beyond all reason. A good guy, reliable, very human.

In fact, in a lot of ways, a Shonen protagonist with a hint of slice of life..

I like this guy.

Besides Smallville/ Superman/Superman & Lois/ hell even that Lois & Clark show was charming-

This is THE post-modern Superman, done right.

Honorable mention: 40's Fleischer Superman

I recommend TAS to JL & JLU, since it is technically one timeline (though JL S1 he was nerfed to shit), but it's all part of his story.

Top 3 favorite Lois Lanes of all time.

  • The music is so peaceful, grandiose at the same time. The composer did the tracks justice, she did her part to bring this project to life with a sound reminiscent of Williams work.
  • I really like the Retro-Futuristic aesthetic of Metropolis and various other set pieces compared to Gotham & Smallville, it genuinely looks like a city of the future. Reminds me of the Jetsons
  • The character writing has that old-school wit to it, where most of the older characters are witty, snarky but professional. Very solid. Vs these days where most characters are random, loud, quirky, and just annoying lol
  • As far as Superman lore goes, one of the few things they didn't put in there was Eradicator, Superboy, etc. This show COVERS a lot of the groundwork of Superman content. 3 Seasons+ of content- even Livewire is in here.

If I were to have a complaint (and no it's not Kara), it would be the pre-Singer/Snyder era of how his powers are presented and engineered into visual format. I really like how Singer introduced Superman causing sonic-booms

-and how Zack translated his power into fights.

In TAS show it lacks the aesthetic, the punch/emphasis, he's strong but.... it doesn't lean into it enough for me at times.

Again, It's very tame but while it's underwhelming, he is young and the later installments pick it up eventually.

Surprisingly My Adventures with Lois-Chan tried to mix it up with the sfx & action, but even that show was lacking, so so so many areas, but I'm going to leave that alone for now.

Superman: TAS

grounded Superman version Zack should've did more homework on. Cavill deserved to adapt this Superman.
