Subscribers would matter if the number of subs were 3:4 or higher equivalent to the views you get, consistently, if subs actually affected your views as a rule (like in the past) vs how the algorithm now determines your video getting trafficked/ or left to dry up, Subscribers would matter if they mattered to video traffic.
It's not like Youtube prioritizes people with higher sub counts, subs don't matter, people with millions of subs somehow only get 100k views anyway. Subs do not matter.
When the algorithm decides if your subs even get the upload notification in the first place, what matters is the algorithm, subscribers don't matter. They're a measure of illusion of success.

Heck, YT can even manipulate who is subscribed to you or not, they can UNSUB people. That's how much a subscriber matters.

Never blue ball audiences for an entire season on presumption that you'll get a chance to wrap it up later, that is never smart, even if it's guaranteed.--- you can do that in movies with ongoing uninterrupted immersion narratives that are not cut up into episodic pieces as much.
But in serialized tv shows? Don't do that if one can help it.
Never assume anything; if you set it up, then wrap it up. Especially if you made the audience sit through all that slow burn story, you should just pay it off out of respect really, don't just chew up people's time like that then say "come back later".
