TC Carson Reveals He Was Fired From 'Living Single': "We Were Getting Le...

"-you cannot put 2 buffoonish men against 4 strong women." yep and they still doing it, in the minds of execs & elites, the men have to be lessened & shrunk into irrelevance for women to even stand a chance and it's bullshit.

strong men do not have to disappear for strong women to have agency, the two can coexist in the same dimension & do so everyday. Because when we make men weak to prop women up in the name of equity, we're saying women can't compete even with equality, problematic narrative.

James Gunn's DCU Is Falling Apart (critical drinker)

Another drinker doom post lol, he not entirely wrong but with a caveat:

It’s not just about numbers, it’s not always about box office.

I understand that’s the criteria Studios operate by, but there’s too much emphasis on it on our level as non studio-execs.

Even if it made a billion+, that’s not a degree of quality just means people bought product. Endgame & the Manga industry is proof that getting numbers doesn’t mean the product people consume is platinum or the absolute upper echelon, it means the marketing did it’s job to convince people to buy product.

Many people can enjoy a quality product but just because a lot of people bought product in droves, is not always indicative of quality.

Numbers alone don’t mean it’s good or bad. that’s where I detract from Drinkers very common talking point: “box office”

S25 was bloated with classic Gunnisms; Corenswet did his best (he was the best thing about the film, thankfully. Though there are some characterization issues here & there (not MOS levels of bad characterization btw) but that’s the writer’s fault, not David.C, hence why D.C himself actually pushed back against Gunn on some writing decisions, so even the actor of the title character smelt some of the same contrivances i did

https://youtu.be/0IwY7Mfzw_w

The music was amazing, impressive shots (like X-El combos in that underground tunnel), wonky characterizations overall, miscasts/many miscasts (Mr.T was alright), undercooked plot beats, & thus Gunnisms galore getting in the way of the execution, which is why majority of his productions are gimmicky and predictable.

Joe Kelly should’ve written, and Matthew Vaughn should’ve been the director or Co-director with Gunn.

Gunn needed to offer notes or have a partnership here if he absolutely needed to be a director, or ideally, stay out of the way.

Corenswet disagreeing with Gunn on-set over some scene details with that final Superman monologue (both Gunn & Corenswet in context had a point, but  Corenswet was right because his angle had less contrivances long term) is just icing on the cake as to why the movie (partly why) was without a doubt better than Snyder’s Man of Sulking as a Superman movie (been said MOS is a great Sci-fi movie but a horrible Superman movie), but S25 still below average as a movie because of Gunn’s Gunnisms.

And as a Superman film: it pales in comparison to something like Superman vs The Elite which was LEAGUES shorter in runtime, gets more done, had an excellent Superman, better characterization with less characters, better writing, better action, better theme/moral and said themes were given FOCUS & thus got to cook.

If Superman vs The Elite had Gunnisms:

  1.  introduced to the Elite
  2.  set-up the dilemma of Superman’s morality in the modern day being challenged by The Elite, which puts in question, is Superman relevant to the modern era, where morality allegedly requires a gray approach?
  3. Lex has a pet Kryptonian (lets say it’s Kara in this take) who’s in her 40′s, she landed on Earth first, stronger than Superman (not his cousin but his clone) & was imprisoned this entire time on Earth. Her brain is beyond repair because Lexcorp turned her into a zombie & she has a peanut allergy, which Lex mocks her for for comedic effect. “That’s not funny“ you say? Exactly! It’s random, & that makes it funny, #WelcomeToGunnisms
  4. Parasite is a bleeding heart victim who’s just misunderstood & has to consume peoples life forces to survive but his hunger is turning him into a planetary level threat, he is set loose by Luthor to end Superman and everyone killed by Rudy will be blamed on Superman for not stopping. P.R assassination by Luthor.
  5. Btw the Justice League is here too for some reason
  6.  And then out of nowhere it’s revealed Superman was actually carrying an alien pathogen, spreading it throughout his life to wipe the people of earth as an unknowing carrier, which was his real purpose for being sent to earth
  7. Mxy is in the goddamn movie causing trouble, doing weird dumb shit (the Krypto of the film) 1000% unnecessary addition

See how bloated that is?

All of those random ass plot beats stuffed into a single runtime, most of those are worth their own movies: Superman 2025 in a nutshell.

If Gunn wrote Superman vs The Elite, that’s what we have gotten. And it sounds like it should be the best Superman movie in history (which is what people said when Superman 25 trailers dropped & we saw the kaiju) but we got a well shot mess, which I saw coming when I saw the Justice Crew aka Temu Guardians of the Galaxy.

Gunn needed focus, because he kept putting more on his plate before we got to cook the previous introduction:

Kohei Horikoshi’s mistake

Introduce plot beats & then dropped for more story set-ups, then resolve the previous introduction in the set-up after instead of focusing on the previous to let it simmer and get us invested, spread thin: this ADHD style of writing that plagues even that garbage My Adventures with Lois-Chan show, problems I saw since Season 1 Episode 1 & 2.

It’s actually thanks to me watching that dumpster fire that I recognized what S25 was on, it’s only ironic that the suits are so similar.

Superman vs The Elite movie got to cook cause there was less going on in it and the writer was/is competent:  And that writer of both that movie and Action Comics #775 was the same guy-

 Joe Kelly

TL;DR It’s way more than just box office numbers, because when you stress revenue so much, people then get this misconception (one that the anime community struggles with) that “box office” or “sales” = “It’s good"

Wrong.

"Kamen Rider Amazons: The Last Judgement" reddit /re 2024 *SPOILERS*

*note: i watched this movie more than 4 times, maybe 5

"I like the darker and gorier take on Kamen Rider in the first season of Amazons. And upon rewatching the second season I have a greater appreciation for it, despite being even more darker and gorier plus adding some teen angst between a five year old and a dead girl.

But what in the name of Dan Kuroto was Toei thinking with The Last Judgement? Aside from "we have to make it even more darker and messed up!"?

I understand now why The Last Judgement isn't on Amazon Prime here in the states."

S2 bugs me because of Chihiro's unfounded obsession with Iyu (the recycled crow sfx with Iyu driving me nuts), but everything else surrounding that, including Iyu's story linking to Haruka's and how Jin's actions led to her death. That was wild. Jin being a blind warrior, & how his fightstyle switched up to accommodate his blindness, eerie efficient warrior this man is.

The movie? It was Directed too much like a Tv exclusive, not cinematic enough. A "filler" episode as Beaverjuk stated.

*Otherwise a decent second ending to the story, Season 2 being the first ending.*

Narratively, enough was wrapped up for it to be a definitive ending, it just didn't feel like one at first. I watched the film last night (as of 2024), watched it multiple times actually, it's a solid ending.

But in reality it reads like a Kamen Rider Black episode, precisely beat for beat, an Amazon farm cult overtone and everything, pure KRB writing.

Which is not an L. KRB had it's ham, but that shit was good tv.

If they remade Kamen Rider Black faithfully but with Amazons or Black Sun's budget & gore tone, ***my god.***

Haruka & Jin compromised themselves with Haruka 'eating ' & Jin killing a "human", so both of them were incriminated ***& at the end of the line.***

As Kurosaki stated: it wouldn't end unless the Omega & Alpha were disposed of.

Jin was spiritually exhausted & clearly wanted Haruka to end him "Only one of us can survive...will it be me?", and stating that if he lives, more Amazons will be born.

Suggesting that Haruka do what needs to be done. Haruka got the message, doesn't mean jin gave the w to the kid. Nah.

(notice how Haruka somewhat gently places Chihiro on the ground vs Jin downright merging Haruka with the molecules of the floor lmfao)

Jin at this point was just a zombie, before attacking those kids you can see the pain in his eyes over what he feels he has to do, even while talking to the Nanaha illusion he was cracking, stating those kids were like his own children.

Haruka was the only person he could leave the world to, the only one he'd allow to kill him if Haruka survived him, and he did.

And it's a testament to his power that he tanked all that damage from Neo Alpha AFTER being chained up for 2 years & living off only blood and then immediately fights Haruka.

# Alpha. One of the grittiest Riders ever- to this day.

The herbivore children are now with Mizuki; Who no longer has a place with 4C.

Reika is in charge, meaning by proxy Mizuki's situation is in good hands. The Chairman is still technically in charge but he's no real active threat to the Mizusawa's, he's insane but he has a method of how he see's the world. Survival of the fittest, plain and simple. Reika will succeed him eventually anyway. Tachibana's dethroned. Mido's dead.

Haruka is now going the Kamen Rider Black route and just roaming about on his bike, helping those who need it.

Though technically this Amazon thing isn't over because he's still alive, which begs the question "How the hell did Mido imprison Jin to begin with?" Which is a gaping hole in the plot that bugs me.

The Extermination group didn't really have any arcs, they just took up some screentime but it was good to see them back up Haruka one last time and they go about their way, possibly to team up with him on other occasions.

For they were a significant part of his life growing up (let's not forget he's only 9 years old and the span of the story is 7 years, so we got to see a good 80-90% of Haruka's entire life)

Jin can finally rest, with his remaining Amazon kids not being psychopathic monsters which he himself acknowledged, and with him gone, no more original bred Amazons can be created (that is if his corpse isn't farmed for samples by black markets, which is unlikely because that village is out in the middle of nowhere & the only person who would know he's out there & have the power to farm his body is Tachibana but he's not in charge anywhere).

Though because Jin's genes were unique- it's not confirmed if one could make more Amazons from Haruka the same way.

But since he's eaten of another person, and beaten the Alpha- he's not the same Haruka anymore, dude is only going to get stronger. The one limit he had, is gone. The one person who could match him is dead. Though I wish their final 1v1 was extended with some more finishers in there. But what we got fit the narrative that they were both wounded animals fighting for keeps.

Haruka's the third new type of Amazon & the last of the strongest, the last rider. Omega meaning "End", riding off on a lone road, the spirit of the Masked Rider. Even Shin Kamen Rider tapped into that in it's ending.

About as definitive an ending as it can get.

*Gunn & Corenswet's clashing ideas for the emotional climax monologue scene * ( Peacemaker & Marvel Zombies is TRASH @youtube)

https://youtu.be/1vU-L2y3SGY?si=wA70uhOmgygqjSSa&t=1070

17:50 Corenswet is right, the inflection of "That is being human!" has the 'something to prove' vibe because it mirrors his outbursts earlier. Vs being collected, not forcing it, which is a stark change

I get Gunn's perspective too, this is the emotional climax of the movie, so it fits to show the vulnerability. Issue is what we define as "vulnerable", men being emotional is not the same as *being vulnerable. Corenswets stance would align better with a development angle--

Supes being more lowkey without brusque assertion "But that is being human." in a less 'something to prove' delivery to a guy he: DOES NOT KNOW or have any history with- The history gap issue would still exist with D.C's idea, but it would sting less in that context.

and since that stupid mutt cut off the conversation(I hate Krypto), we got to see Gunn's direction of the scene which in affect was an incomplete exchange. Why the dog? Likely cause he didn't know how to wrap the scene up with maturity, same shit Horikoshi does.

after 3 years of activity, this movie was when these two finally met, according to Lex. So Gunn has all this pent up outburst written here, when these two actually have no dynamic or history to even base it on, as if they've had this conversation before.

"Is this not the moment where I feel, 'I was wrong to feel that way.'" On Davids part its not about right or wrong to be low, but Supes doesn't have to show Lex vulnerability just to stand his ground. getting rid of the dog helps too, but i get what they're both saying.

I appreciate this exchange (between Gunn & Corenswet), to be honest. It adds some context per on-set dynamics. It's necessary on set (sometimes) for actors to have that kind of backbone & chime in and be receptive. Glad he smelt the same stench of contrivance that I do.

For Davids idea,

Supes would've went through enough to warrant a collected, "I really know it" delivery. So it wouldn't be he just changes suddenly for no reason (which is also a contrivance btw)๐Ÿ‘ˆ At THIS point, he would know it without sounding like he's justifying himself.

(side note: this explains the lois & clark scene where he blew up on her like a manchild, NOW I get it. I understand conviction, passion, doubling down on helping people abroad in ethnic disputes but getting that pissed off, emotional was just bad characterization. Could only imagine the possible reservation David had with that scene. I almost worried for Lois, like calm down, you're not 13, Mr.Kent.)

And if you're reluctantly fluent in Macronese, you'll realize Giant-O-MID Sama is not fresh or a new take on giantess, bro's just publishing a vanilla gts doujinshi you could find anywhere else, but for the general public. That's all this is.  ⛔

(which is leagues more powerful than just being a giant, one of the lamest powers in fiction & with powers like that you get waaaaaay more scenarios for comedy & ecchi)

The gigantism is the comedy/ namesake & content, the point, a lot of the time, and it's contrived despite the authors blatant attempts to make it necessary.

There's but so many times you can get "๐—›๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ'๐˜€ ๐˜€๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฒ ๐—š๐—ผ๐—ฑ๐˜‡๐—ถ๐—น๐—น๐—ฎ ๐˜€๐—ถ๐˜‡๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜€" for the 170th time, before it gets old, invasive. Especially if you're already numb to it.

2025:

As expected it got worse, author added more giant chics, cause they ran out of ideas. The situations just perpetually repeat the same creepy punchline- as Chp 143 is some of the worst manga writing i've ever seen in 2025, if not ever.

The girl not only gets bigger from getting attention (which is just as dumb as that nurse bitch who grows from water) but she speaks in third person, so we can add infantile to the list, just....

Worse than I remember, all the praises prior will remain because they're still relevant (because back then the title was new & the author didn't lose their own plot being a macrogoof).

  • Fetishists will always re-tread the same tropes they do in their little cult circles because they're addicts to the delusionist cope called "fetish fantasy". If you insist on shoving your crap down the throat of the public, raise the bar and stop doing what you people have been doing for the past 20 years.

You'd think someone so eager to push GTS propaganda on the public square for the hundreth time but this time it actually got some traction, YOU'D think they'd reel it in and try to raise the bar. Hence "macrocreep", pure NPC, drone creeper shit.

Home's just keep vindicating what I've been saying, proving my point.

They can't help themselves but do the same shit, its like they're stuck in a quantum bubble, when they reel in the psycho crap, then that excess energy is redirected to growth, ass, panties, breaking shit (but the mini-mi's have more plot armor, yippy!! ) & stupid size puns.

The same shit in doujinshi's, and their gentle genre porn comics, aint nothing about this fresh, vibrant, good, original or new. It's just visible, that's it.

That's the only difference here. These folk are consistently talented in art, animation, production, it's actually mindblowing-- but genuinely incapable of originality or breaking the story free from the fetishism, because they themselves are slaves to it. Thus the writing is always & I mean ALWAYS garbage, from that Mark 'Deaf GTS' guy from waaay back to these new bloods.

It's in-fucking-sane how consistent the lack of quality it possesses despite how good it looks, like a golden turd.

So it began as tolerable, fun trash, but as is, the title has stopped pretending it wasn't always fetishy garbage.

2/10 Should've stayed as a one-shot (to preserve whatever authenticity it possessed, & it did have some, even if barely) or just been a doujinshi in the first place.

My Hero Academia Season 4 Episode 11 Reaction Mashup | ๅƒ•ใฎใƒ’ใƒผใƒญใƒผใ‚ขใ‚ซใƒ‡ใƒŸใ‚ข

"im so afraid of what will happen" 17:10 bro forgot he forgot he was watching mha & actually got afraid for the well being of the character, can you imagine? lol

not just any forgetfulness, he forgot he forgot that Jeanist survived AFO. Ragdoll survived AFO. That random nobody woman in Kamino, etc. AFO couldn't cook to save his life even back then. Not fear of the main villain, but the sloppy seconds Overhaul.

Now sit there & imagine, instead of him getting his hands taken without a fight, imagine how we got robbed AFO vs Overhaul- which is a leagues better way to both: *take Overhaul off the board and amp up AFO's threat level.

HALLOWEEN ENDS Deserved Better (The Shape didn't deserve better, he deserved consistency)

all you need is some themes & good filmmaking to make a mediocre movie that lost the plot of it's own franchise to seem deep.

same vibe anime fans be on, except, this channel had good points to explain why they like it & exploring exactly what it is that makes the themes and evidence of the narrative work, so what he and other channels talk about here is not reaching.

That doesn't mean the movie's good because we got "the point", that's we have to understand, but we or I can appreciate what they went for even if it made both the climax of the first two and Myers himself, neutered, sterilized and disappointing.

I champion character focused material, but it did not belong here. If Corey was elsewhere where he the was the start of a new gen slasher icon, new title, that would've been better but tacking him here? In the FINAL MOVIE? Not even set him up in 2018 but in THE final movie?

Good lord, absolutely not.

Score was good, themes were...acknowledged. I got the point of it all, saw many videos that I disagreed with to understand their points & why it works: The message works, the movie didn't.

And a lot of it has to do with lessening Myers to make the point, now a lot of that may have to do with the fact that this movie really is about the town healing & taking itself back from Myers (could say that was the point of the trilogy) but sometimes, as Infinity War proved, as The Thing proved, as Mandy 2018 proved, as Annihilation proved: the best ending isn't always riddled with closure.

Either way, If Myers goes, Laurie should've gone with him. Don't care how weak he was, still stronger than her. Even Zombie got that right with his sequel movie, very ambiguous ending.

If Ends had that kind of ending, with either Corey or Myers still lingering about, hell if the town gained it's closure with Laurie's own end, fighting for their future, since she is a part of that dark legacy even if still a victim of it & despite her sacrifice the darkness outlived her anyway but ? Haddonfield is free of it, but now it roams searching for another domain.

If this movie tapped into that would be shrined, guaranteed. Because that kind of send off is what the franchise & it's face (Myers) both deserved and is more compatible with. You have to keep the The Shape-- in SHAPE.

(and yes, the junkyward scene is good and the ost is a masterpiece of retro grit; agreed agreed)
