A My Hero Fan makes a good point attached to a bad argument. (Me personally? The Ending is the least of the problem)

He's not wrong about the point of the manga is the "true hero" narrative & no Deku does not have to be the #1 but that's the pretense/impression the author gave for 10 years soooooo why are the fans on trial because they believe what they were told by the Op?

The manga itself executes so badly the message is moot.

Deku got into U.A because he met All Might. Period.

He didn't get into the school because he had fanboy notes, now if Horikoshi had Deku somehow get into the School on his own ability THEN he met Yagi (who noticed he was quirkless & got into the school on his own) that's entirely different and would make more sense for All Might even meeting Deku.

But you see, that's different execution, not a different story but a different process of events. So imagine if the entire story got that kind of overhaul, just the minute details being changed, not the message, but HOW the story is told with the message in it-

you get the same story but a slightly less contrived mess. It has nothing to do with the ending, It has everything to do with everything in between the beginning and the end. And that precisely is why the story is flawed, the ending is the least of the issue.
